The time has finally arrived. As a career food writer, my gut instinct when I come across a restaurant that deeply excites me, is to find a way to shout it out to the world. But I’ve kept my favorite back pocket restaurant in Los Angeles hidden for multiple years. That changes today!
It’s a very selfish move on my part. I have spent my career covering hundreds if not thousands of restaurants across the country (and across the globe). I’ve written about many restaurants in this newsletter. But up until today, I’ve never once written a word about this place. I’ve never even mentioned it on social media. And I’ve only ever brought a handful of deeply trusted, very close friends of minds to eat there with me. I have never gatekept something so intensely before.
It’s not that this place doesn’t deserve a million accolades or all lo the press. I just find myself very protective of it. There’s so few spots that hit every pillar I need for a perfect solo meal: easy parking, no reservations needed, and a menu I can eat several times over without ever getting sick of it. Bonus — it is excellent spot for a last minute group meal.
