One year ago this week, I had the biggest kelt-down of my life. It involved falling into a depressive episode that included suicidal ideation. I don’t say this lightly, and I’m not trying to write it as a headline, but it’s the event that kicks off my new book.
I keep joking that the book self-help for people who are done being the bigger person, but really it’s a love letter to myself. Writing this book was a way for me to get out of my own way and stop with my own bullshit, admit some really ugly things about myself, and take score on the things that really mattered.
I’ve done a lot of work in the last year. I’ve learned a lot. I found a lot of ways to cope and to learn and to grow and to get a handle on what true success means to me. Of course, every time I talk about putting a book out into the universe, everyone says, “Oh my God, you must be so anxious to make the New York Times bestseller list.”
Because, to be honest, the last two times that my podcast LADYGANG wrote books, my main focus was outward success. I wrote those books to prove to everyone that I was good enough, that I wasn’t faking it. Being on a list was like winning an Emmy, and it was somehow going to fulfill my soul and prove to everyone else that I was worth it. But, I’ve changed.
My goal for this book is to touch and impact as many people as possible. If I change the lives of 10 people, or 100 people, or 1,000 people, or 10,000 people, that is the goal.
I can’t wait to see you there,
xo Keltie
