Happy Weekend Y’all! I got a real spring break this week! I explain more in this post here, but TLDR, I got 15 hours back to myself this week, and during that time got my first haircut in over a year, grabbed IRL coffee with Hello Nanny!’s CEO Stephanie Fornaro, and caught up with “Mommy Goes to Work” Author Jossy Lee (thanks so much for a copy of the book, it’s TOO relatable!)
P.S. Both Stephanie and Jossy are supporting the upcoming Career, Care, Connection Virtual Summit, May 12-15!

Parent Supportive Open Roles
I’ll be sharing some big summit updates in our upcoming newsletters between now and the summit. Remember you can use code “FRIEND” for $10 off any ticket type. That gets you in the door for only $15, for 4 jam-packed days of actionable takeaways and inspiration!
Update 1 (✨New Session) - We’ve added an additional, high impact session on Friday 5/15. Join Capital One Executive (formerly Google and Stripe Director) Chaitali Narla, and she shares her framework on improving connection through setting boundaries. Be sure to add this to your schedule! You can also follow her work on newsletter ChaiTime, and in some great guest posts, including “Drop the Ball: A Strategic Guide to Letting Go” in the LevelUp Newsletter, and here on Stork Bites, sharing her framework on Strategic Parental Leave Planning.
Update 2 (🎁Perks & Giveaways) - We’ve opened a new section on the summit site for offers and giveaways for summit registrants. We’ll be adding more over the coming weeks, and if you’re interested to add your offer, please email info@storkandspark.com! Some initial offers
All Attendees - $15 off your first month of membership at Society of Working Moms (our official Community Partner)
Book Giveaway - 15 copies of Leslie Forde’s Repair With Self-Care, Your Guide to the Mom’s Hierarchy of Needs.
Book Giveaway - 12 copies of the Power Pause (contributed by Kate, founder of Society of Working Moms
Update 3 (💸Fundraising for AI credits) - We’ve raised nearly $1,000 from this post alone, to cover the cost of Lovable AI credits for attendees of our Solo-building with AI - Getting Started on Lovable with Real-Time Building session on Thursday 5/14. The context here - we’re trying to give all session attendees 100 credits for building, which costs $25 per attendee. With the $1000, we’ve covered 40 attendees. We anticipate over 200 session attendees (currently at 40), so our fundraising goal is $5000!
THE ASK → We need your help to reach our goal of **$5,000** and provide 100 AI credits to 200 attendees ($25 each). Here’s our current progress:
💰 Current Goal: $5,000 | 📈 Raised So Far: $1,000 (Thank you!) | 🏆 Milestone Check: 20% of the way there! | 🎯 Next Target: Help us reach **$2,500 (50%)** by the end of next week.
WHAT YOU GET:
✅ Direct Impact: Help level the playing field for women in AI.
✅ Recognition: A sponsor call-out on the event page (see Aparna and Elles!)
✅ Visibility: A spot on our Village Wall (my first Lovable project, see wall below!)

A low-income year - whether for caretaking or for starting a new business - can feel vulnerable. Yet this is a situation many of us find ourselves in, intentionally or through circumstance.
Turns out though - there is financial power in a low income year! That’s why I am joining RightWise Wealth CEO (and mama) Caitlyn Driehorst, and Financial Advisor Hannah Farrow for a conversation on the power of a low income year, and how to turn what feels vulnerable, into intention and strategy. You can register here, for our session, Thursday April 16th at 1pm PT. Recordings will be available for all registrants.
[And, A Quick Word From Our Newsletter Sponsor, RightWise Wealth]
“Kindergarten: when you should start investing in a 529 – or when you should target being done? Financial advisor and Boston Consulting Group alumna Caitlyn Driehorst of RightWise Wealth wants to show you how frontloading a 529 could double the extent to which your child’s college tuition is covered by investment gains and tax breaks, rather than cash you have to earn by working. See the charts and read her blog post here. (Marketing disclosures here.)”

*Reminder I am not the recruiter for these roles, but I am your advocate! If you’d like to work 1:1 in a modern networking and job search approach fit for parents - you can book a service here.
