Keith Rohman · The Arc of the Swing

This blog started one year ago this weekend. It grew from an email circulation with my brother and my two best friends to 50 baseball fan friends. Then last spring a poem I wrote was accepted by the National Baseball Poetry Festival and people started to encourage me to write on a broader platform. With advice from several friends (thanks Patrick, JT and Barbara F.) and art provided by Dave Gath, the blog went live on June 30 while I was away for the weekend with a posse of high school friends aka my Advisory Board.

My Advisory Board

Starting with 68 subscribers, it has grown to 210, all free, with most posts viewed about 300 times and 75 percent open rate.

Here are link to some favorite posts and most viewed over the last year:

Most Viewed

· Who Burned the Flag at Dodger Stadium” with over 900 views, almost three times many as most of my posts. It turned out I was fourth on the Google listings at that time for people wondering about the same question which drove traffic to my site.

Other Big Views

· Baseball, Poetry, and Having a Beer with the Voice of God about my friend Dodger PA Announcer Todd Leitz. Had the highest open rate of over 80 percent.

· My Son and Baseball – Living with Loss about death of my son Jack. Over 700 views, so people read it more than once. I was touched by the messages of support from both friends and strangers.

Most Likes

· Married to Baseball about my wife Connie. It turns out people love Connie. No surprise.

· Throwing Out the First Pitch about my throwing out the first pitch at the Worchester Red Sox game. It turns out it is a fantasy many of us have.

Personal Favorites

· Ballpark Food From Nacho’s to Rocky Mountain Oysters where I ate some questionable ballpark food in the interest of journalism.

· From Behind Enemy Lines about my trip to Toronto for Game 2 of the 2025 World Series. The Canadians were (mostly) very nice, as per their reputation.

· 31 Years Wrongly Imprisoned- Then to Dodger Stadium about taking my friend and lifelong Dodger fan Tom Owen to the ballpark after his long prison term.

Whenever I go to a baseball game with readers of this blog, they inevitably have suggestions for posts. I have a long list of ideas from them and my own imaginings to write about in the year to come.

Thanks to everyone who reads, subscribes, and shares their own thoughts about baseball, really the best game of all.
