Some episodes make you laugh.

Some make you uncomfortable.

And every now and then, one makes you stop and ask yourself a harder question:

Am I willing to be honest with myself?

Episode 39 took us there.

We started with stories from Baltimore, the Association of Black Psychologists conference, and the importance of supporting HBCUs and Black-owned businesses. But the conversation quickly turned toward something much heavier: the heartbreaking death of 17-year-old Anthoneil Williams II in Austin and the grief that follows another young Black life cut short.

From there, we explored what vulnerability really looks like.

Ryan Clark’s emotional response to losing his ESPN role became less about sports and more about something many of us experience: What happens when your identity, your work, and your livelihood collide? Why do we celebrate toughness but become uncomfortable when Black men show genuine emotion?

Then... things got a little spicy. 🌶️

We tackled the viral conversation about all-male gyms, masculinity, accountability, and the curious habit some people have of blaming everyone else for their own choices. Maybe the problem isn’t women at the gym.

Maybe it’s the workout happening—or not happening—between our ears. 💪🧠

We wrapped by reflecting on legacy through conversations about Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham. Not to relitigate politics, but to ask a question every one of us should consider:

When people look back on our lives, what story will our choices tell?

Because introspection isn’t about shame.

It’s about having the courage to say:

“I got some things right. I got some things wrong.
And tomorrow, I want to be a little better than I was today.”

That feels like a conversation worth having.

🎧 In Episode 39, we discuss:

  • The tragic death of Anthoneil Williams II and what communities continue to wrestle with.

  • Ryan Clark, vulnerability, and why authenticity has a cost.

  • Masculinity, accountability, and the “all-male gym” debate.

  • Legacy, leadership, and the importance of honest self-reflection.

  • Why introspection isn’t weakness—it’s growth.

I’d love to hear from you:

What’s one belief, habit, or perspective you’ve changed after taking an honest look at yourself?

Sometimes the most important conversations aren’t the ones we have with other people.

They’re the ones we finally have with ourselves. 🎙️
