Happy Friday, my little seahorses! (← one week into deadline month and I’m already calling people seahorses 😅). Turns out that working on two books at the same time is quite tiring so I can’t say what the quality of my next few newsletters will be. But I’m still gonna give it my best shot!
I’m sending a quick hello with some news and updates before Rob whisks me away for a pre-birthday celebration weekend. I’m turning 40 on Tuesday (!!! 🥳 !!!) and will likely spend it at the aquarium store, buying myself fancy grow-lights and (even more) aquatic plants for my 3 (and growing!) planted tanks. Speaking of, the mini-pond is thrivingggggg. It’s been indoors for awhile because we’re doing a ton of concrete work out in the backyard — and while I’ve learned that I need a better grow light after my basil withered up and died — the medaka rice fish seem to be enjoying being in the AC. One good thing is that the cooler their water is, the less they reproduce and there are already, like, so many babies in here:
We got back from vacation to find the silver and orange ones looking bigger (almost like real fish and not just eyelashes with eyes). And you’ll also notice halfway through the video when I realize mid-filming there are two minuscule newborns I was unaware of. They just keep coming. 😅
When I’m not writing and revising allllllllllll damn day, I watch the fish and that’s about all my brain’s got room for. But I’m grateful for the peace they bring me.
