Adventures with my Macro Lens

I was having fun with my 50mm, so why ruin a good thing?

It was time. Time to stretch. Time to challenge myself. With that in mind, I attached a 90mm macro lens to my camera and… huh…

I didn’t remember how actually to use the thing. But with my dog waiting at the door, ready for our morning walk, there was no time for study. Besides, the early light is fleeting, and how hard could it be?

Bwahaha.

Since I live in a forest, I went after my usual victims—weeds (wildflowers).

I snapped one flower.

And then another.

And another.

I loaded the photos into my computer, and… Clearly, I wasn’t doing this correctly. I was basically just taking pictures with a 90mm lens.

The next morning, I readjusted a setting on my lens, and took my dog for another walk.

This new setting allowed me to get closer.

I focused and snapped.

And… It turns out, this really isn’t my thing. Getting this close creates lots of lens shake, which means carrying a tripod to get the best photos. Yeah, no.

Also, I’ve always been more of a scenery kind of gal. Close-up details are cool, but it’s the bigger picture that excites me.

So, yeah, this was a fun experiment. But—I’m moving on.

Until next time, take care!
