Tim Kaney - Experiencer · Kaney's Weird Files

Greetings Starfighters,

If you got that reference, you are my people. If not, well, I’ll let it slide this time.

Thanks once again for checking out Kaney’s Weird Files. This is the first issue or post that is now in a slowly evolving state. Not only have the look and feel been buffed out, but also the format and content.

We’ve grown a bit here, as well, over the course of this substack newsletter. Current figures show we are slowly approaching 50 subscribers and crossed 800 views in the past year. Wow. I am standing here beside myself. Did you get that reference, also? Thank you all!

Big thanks, also, to Steve and Mary over at Breaking the Silence. Their kindness and warmth mean a lot to me, and they have been the source of many new followers recently. Also, they’ve invited me to meet with them again.

As last month’s post mentioned, we will be striving for focusing on the raw data of things. Facts of cases. Emotions felt. Weather. Locations. You name it. We will try to avoid prescribing meaning, avoiding popular doctrine, and steering clear of religious context. That being said, there will still be the occasional, entertainment-based passages. That said, if we don’t have accounts to share, we can’t analyze them.

There is a lot going on in the world right now. I can’t say I am unaffected by much of it. Who could? My focus will remain on the paranormal, phenomenon, and such. If they cross over, so be it.

Let’s get into it and see what February 2026 brings us…

  • The NORAD “Balloon” Scramble (California/Nevada – Feb 15, 2026) We learned that NORAD scrambled a pair of F-16s from March Air Reserve Base after “mysterious targets” were spotted over Nevada and Northern California. Officials later labeled them Unidentified Balloons (UIBs), pilots and a UPS flight crew reported seeing a “glowing and dimming” semi-reflective object that didn’t appear to have a standard payload.

  • The “Obama Disclosure” Viral Wave (National – Feb 15, 2026) Former President Barack Obama caused an uproar on the internet by uttering this simple phrase “aliens are real” during a podcast lightning round. In what many called the ‘backtrack’ of the century, he later clarified he was speaking statistically about the universe, but he reiterated that the U.S. government has records of objects in the sky with flight patterns that “we don’t know exactly what they are.” Then, Trump said he can’t say that stuff. That’s classified. But maybe I can get him out of trouble.

  • Trump Orders Declassification of Alien and UFO files (National - Feb 20th, 2026)

President Donald Trump made an announcement that he's directing the Pentagon and other government agencies to identify and release files related to extraterrestrials and UFOs because of "tremendous interest." He was also noted as saying he doesn’t know if they are real or not, but wanted to find out. What a way to provide context on something important enough to change the course of humanity.

  • Scientists Reveal Weakening of Gravity in ‘Holes’ in Antarctic - (Global - Feb 22, 2026)
A pair of researchers have offered to the world a detailed mapping of so called ‘gravity holes’ over areas of depressions in the earth’s crust in Antarctica. Their efforts seem to reveal that these areas of low gravity are ‘strengthening’ since the time of dinosaurs.

It has been a rough year or two. At least from my perspective, it has been. We lost a couple of people in field research, investigation, and supporters of the experiencers of the strange and paranormal. Jeff Meldrum first, then we lost Earl Grey. A few of my past issues had small write-ups regarding them.

It is hard to hear, then, that Nick Pope recently announced his terminal illness via social media in the last week or two. Some folks on the interwebs seem to perpetuate the vitriol regarding Nick’s past working for the MOD. I don’t know enough about that history to argue one way or another.

All I know is I would not wish Stage 4 cancer on anyone. 3 of my grandparents die from different types of cancer.

I want to just take a short moment to offer my condolences to his family and close friends and he himself. It seems he had so much left to give in the world of the phenomenon. There is so much unfairness that seems off about these losses.

I liked the wording of his post where he thanks all for the numerous well-wishing he would expect but directly states that wishful thinking will not help his case. While seemingly dark and gallows, I think this reflects his nature - to be direct - which drew me to him.

Since I first discovered ‘Ancient Aliens’ he was one that appeared genuine and competent, and with whom I resonated. His background brought additional credibility, also. He had many good sound bites on those shows, which I enjoyed. He was right up there with Georgio and Travis - not only informative but also entertaining. His inquisitive, and also authoritative, mindset drew me to those shows and kept me coming back. I didn’t realize it at the time, but they shaped how I viewed and thought about the phenomenon as a great whole, beyond my experiences.

In my view he contributed much in the world of ufology. And, if you don’t make a few enemies along the way, are you really contributing?

Here’s to you, Nick Pope. Thank you for your work. Please know you made a difference in my life. Hopefully that means something.

KWF Rating - 3 Stars

Author Rupert Mathews book is on the judgement block this month. I had finished reading it a while back but can’t find if I posted about it. His book (title above) was something I found randomly at a local 5 Below store. It seemed like a good find for a little bit of money.

Overall, I would give it 3 stars, if I am rating it. Right now, it is at 4 stars on Amazon. You can find it here at this link.

In short, Mathews attempts to summarize many current and historical events in the world of UFOs. And I think it is a very in depth review of things with a decent chronological style that makes sense.

Here is my critique: while ‘ok’ for someone wanting to get a 10,000 foot view comprehension of things, it works. There is a beginning, middle, and end of the modern history of ufology and documented cases. Many fresh to the topic will likely walk away satisfied and intrigued.

For us more veteran agents of the weird and strange it might seem rudimentary and basic. There is lots that I would call review or things I knew about already.

-As I write this, I am getting an intense sense of déjà vu. Odd.-

I do not recall them all, but a few stories of ufo cases I hadn’t heard of before. And, because it is a summary book, they often do not go into great detail. That, and the stories sometimes blur together with the stream-of-consciousness style of prose. It can be easy to get lost while reading these passages.

I think the best thing is it is a good summary, lacking in dramatic indoctrination, and offers a good sampling of data, relevant cases, and facts.

For what I paid for it, I am not upset. However, I would say it is more of a UFOs 101 sort of book rather than one for a deeper understanding of things.

Yes, I know. Disclosure. Obama and his statement. Trump and his announcement. Many are excited. The move is being lauded as patriotic. Others are not so hopeful. There is so much to unpack in this bizarre string of events that I don’t know if we’ll ever understand the truth behind them.

The question is twofold: “Why the announcement now?” and, “What does it look like or mean?”

Or more simply put - will we really get full ‘Disclosure’?

If you know where to look and research hard enough, I would say that ‘Disclosure’ is already with us and has been for many years. Just ask a handful of genuine experiencers. There are so many shared experiences that they are impossible to discount. They reveal the truth of things, if you know what to take from them. The greater reality. Expandion of conciousness. Awakening and awareness that we are not alone. We have never been alone.

The type of disclosure being referenced refers to official statements and offer of evidence by our elected officials of the existence and interaction with non-human intelligences. Typically, witness testimonies range from government or military and law enforcement officials to scientists and scholars. Absent are first-hand accounts from all the actual experiencers. Stories void of heart-wrenching encounters. Stories of isolation, fear, doubt. Accounts of healing. Salvation. Warnings from these beings of war and cataclysm. Glimpses of galaxy-spanning, race-preserving, human-alien hybridization programs. It’s all there.

Back to the story. I wouldn’t hold my breath. First, Obama seemed rarely flippant in that interview with a monumental back-tracking days later. Trump with a strange ‘coming to his aid’ line about helping Obama get out of trouble by declassifying ‘things’.

Then Trump announcing the actual plan to declassify things but claiming sort of an erudite ignorance of the topic. Huh?

It makes me wonder what dirt Obama has on Trump. Sound jaded? Maybe. But think about it. Why would Trump, of all people - given his character - offer to do something like this to help out an ex-president, not to mention one such as Obama? If he really felt like Obama broke the law or actually revealed classified information, wouldn’t his standard response be to ‘lock him up’ or hang him? Refer to him as a ‘criminal’? Ban all Obama references? Erase him from history? But no. He offers to declassify that material so he no longer will have broken any laws. But did Obama? If he only meant statistically aliens existed? So then, didn’t Trump just confirm it by saying that? Ugh. What?

Next, it seems like a very coincidental timing given all that is oging on. War with Iran. The Urkaine, Russia front. Tension with China. The cartel war. Oh, did I forget the Epstein Files?

If you think this ‘promise’ to release and declassify any and all files related to ufos, aliens, and the like is anything more than an effort to deceive, inveigle, and obfuscate, (yes, another reference) you may be in for a surprise.

I hate to be skeptical and negative, but I think being wary of this is the wise position to take. Wholly applauding the effort with no pause is borderline delusional to me. Hopefully, the past actions of this administration can make it plain why. Think about this: how did it go with the current debacle with releasing the Epstein Files?

Given what some of us know about the nature of the ufo and alien abduction phenomenon, does anyone really think it will go any better?

Would it be great if we got ‘disclosure’? Sure. But even if they say what Obama did it is such a simple fact many of us already know it would drop cold at our feet.

We would need to know so much more about the deeper nature of it all to get any kind of satisfaction.

I am sorry but they would likely also try to tell everyone how to interpret the facts.

And th facts may be worse than the current findings in the Epstein Files.

Experience. What is it? Conciousness traveling through sensory triggers, time, and space with interpreting software? A corporeal shell perceiving it’s surroundings? A thing that happens to another thing at a certain time and place? All of the above? None of it?

In this phenomenon, it is clear that a species that is the same from the outside has two different main experiences in their lives. One without contact or interaction with non-human intelligences and one with. Stranger still is that humans from different parts of their world that don’t know eachother often tell of similar if not identical experiences with these non-human intelligences.

Beyond that yet lies those rare cases where people who sohuld not know eachother, have the same connection in the non-human intelligences realm, will somehow have a feeling of deep connection or knowing others upon first meeting one another. It is a jarring and amazing aspect of this whole thing.

A few weeks ago, after seeing my appearance on Steve’s Breaking the Silence, an experiencer contacted me on my social media page. They shared a lot about how my story resonated with them, was too similar to be just coincidence, and they felt strangely connected. Since, we have conversed several times. The connections go even deeper and wider than initially thought. While I don’t want to reveal too many details to respect their privacy, I just wanted to share that this is an often occuring, yet less talked about aspect of the phenomenon.

This means that their is a high probability that what you experience in this realm has a better than average chance that something just like it or something identical has happened to others out there.

Why is that important? I think it helps to a small degree to know that you are not alone. You likely never were alone.

While the events you may recall or live through are factually solo or alone, it may be that others have the same experience as you. Maybe closer than you may know.

For example, I shared in my memoir that during hypnosis I was an image of a young girl running back to her home. That girl I only saw from behind, but the location was known to me. She fit the description of someone I knew well back then. The memory showed she was holding something that was very unique and easy to recall. I was able to connect with that person. She confirmed both the item she was carrying and what she was wearing at that time. The memory was of both of us in or near our driveways looking up at the sky as something was leaving the ground, making the sky flicker and change colors. To me, it was the end of a joint abduction experience and they had brought us back.

Until that hypnosis session and confirmation I had never even guessed that someone that close to me when I was a kid was also involved in the events that occured to me.

While somedays now I feel a rare type of loneliness and isolation, especially being at a tipping points in ages of our kids who are starting to rebel and need us less, it has given some solace to know we all are part of a larger community of people that are the only ones that can ever truly understand how we feel.

The issues arise when zealots, gurus, self-help quacks, and teachers of the divine, or fear-mongering, and well-meaning charlatan arise and beging to cloud everyone’s invidivual experiences with their dogma and doctrines. I think this is something everyone needs to be aware of and keep their wits about them on.

What is the point to all of this? There is something going on that is beyond our understanding at the moment and more and more people are realizing it goes so far down the rabbit hole it has the ability to upend the very fabric of our society.

This is why we as experiencers struggle so deeply. We can either give in wholly to the weird and lose all ability to reside in the domesticated life we once had or we dig our heels in fully and completely damage our psyche by denying what truth lies deep within.

We have a choice. You have a choice. It is not an easy one. I myself am working on balance at all times to live a straddling position between the known and unknon.

This is liminality in it’s purest form. At least in my opinion it is.
