Unless you are living under a rock, you have heard about the SpaceX IPO. Elon Musk’s company recently went public at an insane valuation, and with it, at one point, Musk’s net worth peaked at around 1.3 trillion dollars.

Yes, you read that right. Trillion.

To help you wrap your head around that number: you could take a full trillion off his net worth and he would still be the wealthiest man on the planet. INSANE.

He has since fallen back to billionaire status, but the glass ceiling is now broken, and in the next decades, we will probably see more and more people enter the trillionaire club.

Everyone sees this level of staggering inequality, and the immediate reaction is usually moral outrage:

it’s the tax loopholes, no no it’s the corrupt politicians, wait no it’s the corporate greed.”

But what if we are all pointing fingers at the wrong culprit? What if the ultra-rich don’t exist because of a failure of human policy, but because of nature itself?
