The woven darn is a simple, beautiful way to extend the life of your clothes – once a common household skill, it is now nearly forgotten in the age of fast fashion. In this two-hour workshop, you’ll learn this traditional hand-mending technique and use it to repair a cherished garment. No previous sewing experience is required, all skill levels welcome.

Mending Circle (2023–ongoing) is a participatory textile installation where people learn how to darn on a seven-foot circular knit frame. Since its debut at ARTCH in Montreal, it has travelled to a number of festivals and community art spaces, engaging over 200 participants across London and Montreal.
Mending Pages (2024-2025) was developed during Selina's artist residency at Buckinghamshire New University via the AA2A scheme in close collaboration with the student community. She hosted workshops where students learned and practiced a darning skill on textile “pages”: knit swatches stretched on small wooden frames. Their first attempts at repair, intuitive in both colour and stitch, unfolded like handwritten notes in a sketchbook. Alongside technical instruction, the sessions opened space for conversation around sustainability, care and the history of mending.
