Hello!
I feel quite emotional typing out this message to you, because many of you know that the past year has been a bit of a rollercoaster for me! I had a miscarriage last autumn which I found devastating, but when I opened up about it to my wonderful readers, I was met with a huge amount of kindness and support. It really restored my faith in humanity!
To my surprise, I became pregnant again soon after, but found my early pregnancy pretty nerve-wracking, because I was so worried about losing my baby. I also had some significant issues with sickness and nausea and… well there were a lot of ups and downs! Throughout all of this, my Call to Action community has been endlessly reassuring, wise and thoughtful, and I’ve counted myself lucky every single day.
So when it came to announcing my baby’s birth, it felt right that you should hear about it first! I haven’t put any social media posts up about her arrival yet- you come first. So here goes, and I’m brimming with pride as I write this! Little August Tessa Patterson arrived on 6th August at a chunky 8 pounds 1 oz, and has been filling our days with joy ever since!
I’m not getting a lot of sleep at the moment, and am in a little bit of a love fug (!), but as soon as I’m able to, I’ll be back at my desk writing to you, and keeping everyone updated with important developments. This is more important than ever- and I’ll have more time for it than ever too, because my newsletter is about to become my “main gig”, and I’ll be working very hard to do even more for my readers. In this messy media landscape, I believe you need more facts and commentary more rapidly, and I have big plans ahead…
In the meantime, I hope you’re having a lovely summer and aren’t too hot, and are enjoying some moments with the people and things you love! Oh gosh - as I’ve been typing this, little Augie has started crying for some milk, so I’d better dash! But I’ll be back in touch very soon.
Take care and speak soon,
Yours,
Ju x
