I didn’t plan to write to you today (many of you know that I had my baby 10 days ago, and am taking a little break from writing my newsletter while I recover/ adjust). But baby August fell asleep in her cot and so I think I have ten minutes to share something extremely important with you…

I wanted to share a link to a letter that Good Law Project have written, demanding a public inquiry regarding the tragic death of Jason Arday. The letter is addressed to the Prime Minister and Culture Secretary, and includes this quote:

“We respectfully ask you to commission an immediate public inquiry into how to ensure a responsible press given its contribution to Dr Arday’s tragic death.”

I don’t usually share things like this with my Substack community- (especially when typing at the speed of light because I need to send this before Baby August wakes up!). But sometimes we need to take immediate action together, take a stand, and I think this is one of those times. Please sign if you can.

And I hope that you find some moments of peace this week. My community is a group of wildly compassionate, thoughtful, informed individuals, and I’m enormously grateful to be connected with you. But I know that the very qualities that make you so special can weigh heavily on your shoulders, because you care about other people, and the world in general.
