My mom has a basket for dead flowers in our laundry room. That may sound weird, but the flowers behind me in the video below (they’re called zinnias) don’t come back on their own every year. You have to take the dried out seed from the dead flowers and save them to replant and then the next year, look how beautiful! I think joy often works in a similar way. I think that sometimes it takes time. It comes from the hard moments. From the valleys and shadows of death, comes seeds that grow beautiful things.
And that’s what joy has to do with dead flowers, my friend.
