Reddit Search Bookmarklet

Restricting a web searching to Reddit is a good way of cutting out SEO spam. Typing out the search term every time is tedious so I wrote a bookmarklet that toggles Reddit search on and off with a single click. Toggle search only Reddit. You can save this link as a bookmark and then “open” said bookmark when viewing web search results and it will add or remove the site:reddit.com search…

Crochet Snowflake

Made using a pattern by Expression Fiber Arts, size 3 cotton crochet thread, and a 2.75mm tapered hook. It was a bit hard to pull the hook through all of the slip stitches. The wagon wheel center looks odd to me. I’m surprised how well chain stitch loops worked for the spikes.

Bookmarklets

I just learned about this cool thing called bookmarklets. They are little javascript programs saved as a URI in a bookmark. “Opening” the bookmarklet runs the javascript on the current page. Here is an example I wrote: Add/remove a colorful cursor trail. You can save this link as a bookmark and then get a colorful cursor trail on any web page. This morning I saved up and top from…

Mom's Pancakes

My mom’s new recipe for pancakes. It’s supposed to be whole food plant-based, or at least closer to it than what we used to eat.

Tomato Cabbage Soup

Mom made this on a whim and without a recipe. It was really good. These are the ingredients as far as we could remember.

Improved No-Bake Cookies

A plant-based and low fat version of no-bake cookies. Though it still has tones of sugar.

Walnuts in a Date

This tastes pretty good.

The Happy Pear's Peanut Satay

I got this recipe from a video by The Happy Pear. It’s a better sauce for my peanut lettuce noodles than the one I came up with .

Hummus

Ingredients 2 cans chickpeas 1 cup of chickpea liquid 3 Tbsp lemon juice 1/4 cup tahini 2 tsp garlic powder 1 Tbsp liquid smoke 2 tsp paprika (Or use smoked paprika and omit the liquid smoke. Can also use chipotle for spicy hummus.) 1 tsp salt Directions Drain chickpeas into measuring cup. Save at least 1 cup before dumping the rest. Add all ingredients to blender and blend until smooth.

Peanut Lettuce Noodles

Oh man this is good! This may be the best Thai inspired noodles that I have made. I made this on a whim so the recipe is not sensitive nor that specific.

Garlic Bread

A really amazing garlic bread. I was very surprised at how much flavor this had. I came up with this recipe myself using ingredients that I had lying around at the time. This is why it’s important it is to learn techniques and flavor interactions. I was able get this right on my first try without using a recipe because I had learned the fundamentals of cooking.

Chickpea Salad

This is a recipe that my mom showed me. It’s tastes great, it’s easy to make, and it’s very healthy.

Bacon Mac & Cheese

An easier take on homemade macaroni and cheese. By using the starchy pasta water we do not have make a roux to thicken the sauce. This is the same technique used in Cacio e Pepe. The bacon and onion require just a little extra work and give this a much deeper flavor.

Joshua's Banana Bread V2

My own spiced version of banana bread. It’s fairly sweet but still light and filling enough to have as a snack.

Microwave Brownie in a Mug

An easy and forgiving way of making cakey brownies. I originally got this from a YouTube video but they put way to much oil in it. I only use half or less of their amount. These brownies taste great on their own and are even better with a scoop of ice cream or a glass of milk.

Corn Tortillas

I decided to try and make my own tortillas. The first time I made them they were greasy and leathery. The second time I made them I followed a recipe from Food Wishes and they were fantastic. This recipe is my tweaks and notes on the original.

The Lord Kelvin's Thunderstorm I Built

Preface This is a project that I did way back in 2012 when I was in high school; for an English class of all things. The teacher told us to read “a book” so that’s what I did. When we got to the project it was all about characters and plot lines. The book I read Homemade Lightning: Creative Experiments In Electricity by R. A. Ford. How was I supposed to know I needed to read a…
