A classic cartoon desert island — tiny, with a lone palm tree at its center. The bearded castaway watches blank faced as an identical island, equipped with an outboard motor, cruises past, and the windblown castaway aboard it waves a friendly hello.
It’s hard to do a genuinely new desert island gag, but I feel like I invented this one. Or at least I haven’t seen it before. My jokes have been very talky lately so I wanted to do a visual.
Just got my first hard copy of the new book:
(That’s actually the hand of Kevin Cornell, the brilliant artist who drew the book, but his copy looks the same as mine).
It’s a “Choose-Your-Own-Adventure” style picture book, but totally nuts, and weird enough to entertain parents as well as kids. It’s more like a toy than a book; you’ll want to twist it every which way to see all the shapes it makes, and to find all the secrets we hid inside.
