This joke is very old-timey (and sexist? Probably).
It’s Golden Age Comic Book Plot Number Three — “The Executed Criminal Isn’t Really Dead:”
What saves this one is how awesome/ terrifying “The Jackal” is. George Storm’s art is far cruder and more impressionistic than anything you’d see today, and it makes the whole story more powerful. It’s like an old German woodcut, or an illustration for “Grimm’s Fairy Tales” by a shellshocked soldier from World War I. Much respect, George Storm.
