Living the Soft Pants Life

How’s spring treating you? I mean besides threats of nuclear war and genocide, actual war, and scary stupid gas and grocery prices. Meanwhile, irises bloom, lilacs perfume, and peonies take their sweet time.

Recently, I discovered that living in soft pants is truly the dream. I feel unrestricted, unbound, all day everyday. I may go jeans/trousers free forever, even though I once vowed I would never sport elastic waist wonders. I now wear soft pants when I dress up. No one’s given me a judgy-once-over, at least none that I noticed. And I’m at the age of beyond caring if they do. I claim true liberation!

Studies show that being filled with awe, and experiencing a few ahhs of cuteness, everyday is key to aging well. Let’s exchange (see what I did there?) some things that make us go ahhh or be filled with awe. Please share yours in the comments!

A Spiritual Practice

I’m trying out the Anna Fast, created by Pastor Kaji Douša. It’s easy to remember and practical, which inspires me to do it. Pastor Kaji’s three steps are: “1. We guard the gate of our attention. 2. We protect the body that carries our calling. 3. We tend the gifts God has already placed within us.” Number 1 is what I feel called to focus on right now. Chez-Casa-Kramer’s attending cutie, Dr. Rabbie Rabbitovitch, twitches while suppressing his existential crisis. I’d advise him to put on soft pants to feel less anxious, but he’s already wearing them. (Can you tell I’m a fan of HBO Max’s The Pitt?)

Birds Calling

A bald eagle visited our next door neighbor’s cottonwood tree last month, a breathtaking sight. This raptor stayed for over an hour.

A female Downey Woodpecker enjoys our avian buffet and beverage bar. Gold finches, blue jays, robins, nuthatches, black-capped chickadees, and many others also visit the spread, causing me to look up from whatever I’m doing for a few minutes of joy.

A Message I Will Stand Behind Always

This lovely human offered comfort to those of us in line at the pharmacy.

The message reads: dear person behind me, if you feel lonely today, just know that I care and you matter. keep going, with love, the person in front of you
