God’s Laughing at Me

Last month, in this space, I howled how unfair March and April are in Colorado. While most of the Northern Hemisphere gleefully catapults into spring, Coloradans are buried alternately in blizzards and griege. Until I whined about it publicly.

This year, a winter of persistent summer temps birthed spring six weeks early.

We’re not used to daffs dancing in March. Or Pasque flowers rising well before an early Easter. Or branches loaded with purples and pinks floating into azure skies.

Do we lament this disruption of nature’s timetable that could end tragically?

Do we revel in this premature kaleidoscope of warmth and color?

Do we dare do both?
