The Missing Step Before Any ADHD Organizing System Works

One of my clients spent years cycling through planners. Erin Condren, then Passion Planner, then a bullet journal she did every Sunday night, then an app that promised to gamify her to-do list. Each one worked for her for about two to three weeks.

Every planner works the same way on paper. Write the task, check the box, move on. What almost none of them take into consideration is that your brain may interact with that structure in a completely different way than the person who designed it did - even if the designer has ADHD.

That is where most organizing systems fall apart. Not because they were poorly made, but because they were built for a brain that does not forget things mid-sentence and does not lose steam by two in the afternoon without warning.
