Hi, friends, happy Saturday! I hope you’re having a good weekend so far.
As we know, all good things must come to an end, and the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale ends tomorrow night! If you’ve been dragging your feet or watching for restocks, now’s the time to make those last purchases before they go back to full price.
Before we get into the Q&A and weekend sale roundup, I thought I’d share a few last-minute recommendations for anyone still shopping.
If you’re still thinking about placing one last order, these are the five categories I’d focus on before the sale ends tomorrow night.
The Caslon bubble hem cotton twill jacket has been restocked in most sizes! It’s also right on trend, super versatile, and perfect for transition season.
A few more I like: this luxe suede jacket, this buttery soft zip-front leather jacket, and this chic twill stand collar jacket.
If you’re looking to add a new pair of jeans for fall, I’d focus on medium and darker washes. They’re a big part of the shift we’re seeing in denim right now, and there are still some really good options in the sale.
My picks: these, these, and these.
Suede is everywhere for fall, and this is a good opportunity to add it in whatever way makes the most sense for your wardrobe—a jacket, a great bag, fall boots, or walkable flats.
A few favorites: this jacket (splurge), this jacket (save), this bag, this belt, this dress, these boots, these sneakers, these loafers, or these flats.
Cashmere, merino wool, and 100% cotton knits tend to be a really good value during the #NSale. These are pieces you can wear throughout fall and winter, so it’s a great time to pick them up at a discount.
Worth a look: this wool/cotton cardigan, this cashmere v-neck, this cashmere sweater hoodie, and the Vince cashmere crewneck.
Also, not natural fibers, but I love this AllSaints ribbed collared cardigan and this Splendid cable knit short sleeve turtleneck for a couple of fun trend pieces.
Accessories are one of the easiest ways to update your wardrobe for a new season without buying a whole new outfit. I’d look for a great belt, a new handbag, or a piece of jewelry that works with the clothes you already own and adds a current touch.
My top picks: this bracelet stack, these resin bangles, this tiger’s eye beaded necklace, these layered pendants, this metal tip suede belt, this glazed leather convertible crossbody, and this slouchy suede shoulder bag.
Bonus Pick: A Beauty Exclusive
The #NSale beauty exclusives are always an incredible value, especially if it’s something you already use and love. It’s a good time to stock up on favorites or try something that’s been on your list.
My personal favorites: this body lotion, this dry shampoo, this Vitamin C serum, and this setting spray.
I’m also a huge fan of these hair towels, and you can’t beat this price on the Dyson Airwrap!
I’ve also got a recap of the week, the reader Q&A, and weekend sale roundup for you below. Have a great day!
xx,
Jo-Lynne

Got a question about style, beauty, travel, or life in general? Send it my way! Just email me with “Q&A” in the subject line, and I’ll try to feature it here.
Q: Do you have any tips for removing tubular mascara. I've liked your recommendation of tarlette tubing mascara since it actually stays on and doesn't flake, but I have a hard time getting the tubes off my face. Do you splash your face with water, use a washcloth, make up remover product?
A: I use these eye makeup remover pads. I gently wipe/rub them over my eyes, and I find it works better if I use one for each eye. Then I gently rub everything off with one of these muslin washcloths and warm water. They do a pretty good job, but sometimes I need to go back over my eyes in the morning before applying makeup to get any residual smudges out from under my lower lashes.
Q: Which summer trends do you think have enough staying power to be worth buying on end-of-season clearance for next year? For example, jelly shoes or the fish motif trend—are those likely to still feel current next summer, or are they better left behind?
A: Honestly, there’s no way of knowing for sure, but I’d only buy something right now with next summer in mind if you love it enough that you’ll still want to wear it, whether it’s trending or not.
Remember, trends are rarely here one year and gone the next; they tend to phase in and out. Fads, on the other hand, can definitely run their course very quickly. I’m not sure I’d consider either of your examples a fad.
Jellies have been around for a few seasons now, so I’d call those a trend. The fish motif popped up quickly this summer, but that’s also a classic summery motif that you might wear whether they’re trending or not. So I expect to see both still around next summer, even if they aren’t as hot as they are now. But of course, I can’t guarantee anything!
Q: Can you share some current fall shoe options with a heel for petites in a size 5? I’m 4’10”, so I prefer a little height rather than flats, but I’d love options that still feel comfortable and current.
A: I don’t know how casual you need them to be, but these are gorgeous if you’re looking for a pump, and I’ve had these suede slingbacks on my radar, although they’re both quite dressy. These leather slingbacks have a bit more height, and Quince makes these leather slingbacks with a 0.6” heel.
For something more casual, I love these 1.5” heel booties from the #NSale, and also these for a bit of a splurge. These booties are another good option, and these mules are also really pretty.
