PART 4/5 (7-day reset inside)
RCLM has already grown by more than 2K new readers since last week, so if you’re new here: welcome and thanks so much for joining! We happen to be right in the middle of a limited series all about building amazing energy, so if you’d like to catch up, you can start here:
Over the past three weeks, we’ve built physical energy through movement, nutrition, and sleep, cleaned up the mental habits that quietly drain us, and learned how to help our nervous systems recover from stress a little more easily. This week, we’re looking at something that’s a little less obvious but just as important: social energy.
The people around us shape our energy more than we realize sometimes. Every conversation, relationship, and interaction asks something of us. Some give that energy right back, while others quietly chip away at it.
Today’s energy transformation guide is all about learning the differenc! We’ll talk about the people you spend time with, the conversations you have, the boundaries you set, and a few simple ways to protect your social battery without becoming the person who disappears into the woods and never answers a text again.
And, of course, don’t forget to read all the way to the end for a brand new 7-day reset!
Have you ever walked away from a conversation feeling like you could take on the world... then had another one that made you want to crawl straight back into bed?
That’s because your social life affects your energy a lot!
As humans, we are constantly influencing each other. We naturally mirror facial expressions, body language, tone of voice, and even emotions without thinking about it. Psychologists call this emotional contagion. In other words, feelings spread.
So spend enough time around someone who’s calm, optimistic, and really excited about life, and you’ll probably notice yourself feeling a little lighter too. The opposite is true as well! Constant complaining, drama, negativity, or tension can be surprisingly exhausting, and will even rub off on you too!
Now this doesn’t mean you need to cut everyone out of your life or only surround yourself with relentlessly positive people. That’s not realistic. It simply means paying closer attention to how different relationships affect you. And that’s exactly what I’m going to teach you today!
[disclaimer: this isn’t an introvert vs. extrovert thing]
Some people love a packed social calendar. Other people would rather spend Friday night reading a book with their phone on Do Not Disturb. Neither one is better! What matters is how your interactions leave you feeling.
In this main section, we’re looking at the 7 aspects that make up your social energy that have a huge impact on your health and mindset. We’ll talk about the people you spend time with, emotional boundaries, being more present in conversations, protecting your peace, and a few simple habits that can make your relationships feel lighter instead of more draining.
Let’s jump in!
