Parents raise their kids to play fair and to be fair buuuut the world doesn’t play fair. Kind people sometimes get hurt, cheaters often do advance in business, all too often people are treated differently bcuz of who their ancestors were, some people are unfairly disadvantaged bcuz they come from economically challenged homes, others are attacked verbally and even physically bcuz of their sexual orientation, or personal choices ( religion, pro-choice/pro-life, vaccines, political alignment) and lately for their shared opinions.
I think we need to begin teaching our children that while life isn’t fair, we want to really know ourselves, know what is truly important in life and make choices that keep us in our highest vibration so that we can look at ourselves in the mirror and be able to say with ultimate truth that we are the kindest, most compassionate and loving person we can be... towards all life, not just to humans. And not bcuz we are better, nor worse than another ( bcuz that isn’t accurate) but bcuz we realize that we are all differently the same. We need to teach them that we can be aware of the fact that there are those who do things just for the sake of greed, recognition, and from fear bcuz they have not yet developed enough self-love, kindness and compassion inwardly... so they have none to share. We do not have to be like them. When we are knocked down, we can get back up knowing that when we are treated badly, it has less to do with us and more to do with where that person is at. We can send them love, wish them to know love while at the same time make sure that we do not give someone else the right to redefine who we truly are on our journey. And we can teach the children that while we are all perfectly imperfect and will make mistakes, it is owning our mistakes, taking responsibility for our choices without being self-critical that most contributes to our being someone of integrity. We can let them know that each of our choices comes with a natural consequence that sometimes is evident immediately and sometimes doesn’t show up for a long time but regardless, what we choose to do or not do is part of what makes us who we are and who we are when no one is watching, tells most about our characters.
If our children grow up practicing and internalizing these truths, not only will they, as adults, have more understanding, appreciation and acceptance of themselves and others, no one will ever be given the ability to control them or their choices again.
