I feel a bit like a castaway, waking on the shore of a desert island, blinking and wondering ‘where am I?’
It seems I’m on an island called Substack (not a very evocative name but it’s a given) and as I look around, take a wander into the trees, I stumble across signs of occupation. Even some people that I know. Ah, there’s 26…
I’ve posted one or two things on here, mainly on the 26 Substack, but I’ve been wondering how to bring some focus to my contributions here. I know it should be about writing because that’s what I do. But should I try to herd these diverse thoughts about writing, like sheep into a particular pen? For example:
- work in progress, which could be any kind of writing but is more likely to be poetry these days
- thoughts on how to write, drawing on what is now a lifetime of experience in the world of writing
- exercises, things to try, where we might experiment together like a virtual workshop
- focus on a particular new project as it unfolds over weeks and months
Or perhaps all of these things. I’d be grateful if you’d let me know what you think, give me a steer – we might even call it collaborative.
