Our Light and Life

Every day, as we set our eyes on the rising sun, do we bless the world, its pleasures and entertainments, or praise God?

It is in the new day that our souls are refreshed before our Lord, a new day born to praise and love Him, because we never know it may be our last. Let’s start our day with the thought that it is both the first and the last day of our lives.

We are like children before our Loving Father, always seeking to please Him, knowing that from this day forward we may be leaving behind all our worldly pleasures, business, attachments, friends, and family, and that only the measure of our love for Him matters. Is it not far from reality?

Let’s always check our intentions in all we do; there are only two choices: one for the love of God and the other for the love of the world and its fancies. We can either cast our fishing line into the clear waters of Christ’s love or into the filth of the world’s ways.

So let our hearts shine in the darkness, drawing others to Christ.

“For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” 2 Corinthians 4:6
