Welcome to the same newsletter in a slightly different format!
So, the latest good news is that my book Ão Ão! (Bow! Wow! in English) won a special mention at Bologna’s fair! (These prizes are called BRAW, thus the title).

He gets to have a sticker now!

Aside from celebrating this, I’m doing a bunch of workshops in March. The first is already next week, on the 12th:

It’s a Writing Playground with my writing group, Litterbox. We have a special guest, Callaz, and a writing session all themed around performance. (But no worries, you don’t need to perform, just write!) More about it here.

We’ve been doing these monthly writing sessions for almost a year! It’s been a really nice experience, and we often have a big group (and they are not all our friends!) Lately, we’ve been thinking about whether we should start an association. On one hand, that would allow us to apply for funds and have a more legal structure for what we do. But on the other hand, it will involve even more work than now —applying for things, doing the accounting... all of that takes time on top of what we already do. It’s hard to decide when to keep a thing small and simple or let it grow, even if that means your responsibilities towards it will grow with it.
Anyway, that’s what has been on my mind. I have no conclusion! We need to research and decide. Have you ever been in the same situation and have some tips?

In the meantime, the other workshops coming up are these:

19/03 — Comics workshop at In Flanders Fields Museum. We will be drawing stories of refugees of World War I, inspired by the current exhibition Ontheemd.

25/03 — Free workshop for kids, about the book Ão Ão! at the Uccle library.

(I knooow, these are all in Belgium. But don’t worry, I’ll be in Portugal soon and Nicolau and I are preparing something BIG!)

Have a nice weekend,
Joana
