Live Stream July 1st - This Web of Life

All my friends know that a real priority of mine has been to write music and poetry that educates and inspires, and motivates too, about the existential environmental challenges we face. I’m not usually bringing up Unitarian Universalism, but the UUs have 8 Principles, and the 7^th is “Reverence for the Interdependent Web of all Existence.” It’s the reason why I frequent UU churches – well, along with the other principles, they’re pretty good, too.

But that’s where this title comes from. Symbiotic relationships, amazing stuff. We didn’t learn much about that in school, we were told that we were the stewards of it all. The micro-organisms, the bacteria and viruses, the plant that lures the bug, then eats it – they don’t care much about humans. But we need to care about killing them because they keep us alive.

I have songs that celebrate how everything is connected. I like to say I think we got thrown out of the garden of Eden for dividing it into separate fields of study. I can’t stay stuck on all the trouble we’re in, so there needs to be some humor here too.
