Can You Hear Me Now?

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you might remember last fall’s iPhone adventure. Well, I’m back on my bullshit.

A couple of days ago, Nick asked me if we could upgrade his phone (an iPhone 16 through T-Mobile) while he’s here. I initially said no because I didn’t want to deal with an increased cellular bill, but after talking to him about it and thinking about it more, I decided that I would give him my iPhone 17 Pro, pay off the remainder of his 16 with T-Mobile, and then trade it in.

Yesterday, we did the swap and then I went to the Apple Store. He is thrilled with the 17 Pro, and because I’m an indecisive idiot, I’ve gone full circle.

That’s right, I’m back on the phone that I initially decided on in the fall 🙃

One thing I forgot about, and was immediately reminded of when I held one at the Apple Store, is how much lighter the 17 is compared to the 17 Pro. It also feels much better in hand due to not having the Pro’s unibody design (which, when paired with the Pro’s rounded corners, makes it slippery af).

Anyway...

My phone adventure continues. My kid is super happy, and that makes me happy. I'm happy with my decision. I'm not sure what I'm going to do in September when the new phones drop. I'm intrigued by the rumored folding iPhone, but I'm not sure about the trade-offs, and honestly, the Pro is probably out if it's the same slippery-ass design unless there are significant improvements elsewhere (cameras mainly).

I guess we'll see what happens in September 🤷‍♂️
