Four years ago, I had deleted Instagram to take a break from years of content creation to fine tune what it is I felt I was called to share. I had tried to “niche down,” as the growth experts say to do. That’s how you gain more subscribers, of course. That’s how you become successful.
I spent months trying out this niche tactic in private. Only talking about my walk with the Lord. Only talking about styling and clothing. Only talking about clean living or interior design or motherhood. But I realized there was no way I could compartmentalize my gifts, I was called to share about all of it even if it meant growth was slow. Deciding, then, what the heart of the Gold Standard would be became so important and over the years, I’ve honed in on exactly what that is:
I’m here to help mothers.
Of course, as I’ve always said about my momiforms is that motherhood isn’t by any means a requirement for this to be your favorite space, but mothers will never be an afterthought here.
I want to give you, mother, a space to be inspired, to be moved by solidarity, to find skincare you can trust while breastfeeding and the book that will actually hold your toddlers attention. I got my degree in fine art and fashion in the pursuit of a life creating beautiful things and I’m a firm believer having kids didn’t disqualify me from that life. I’ve dedicated the past twelve years of motherhood to endless research, constant curation and tireless testing to create a space you can trust. A space where you know the work has been done for you. Because I hope you know motherhood doesn’t disqualify you from a beautiful life, either.
The Gold Standard is your weekly reminder—your one stop shop that contributes to prove it true.
I took a leap of faith on August 4th, 2022 and decided to make Substack my home and for those of you reading this who have been here since then, I just can’t thank you enough.
In addition to having access to the full pregnancy podcast, all archives and two weekly emails from here on out, Annual Subscribers will be entered to win: The luxurious Vintners Daughter Essence and Serum that has single-handedly changed my skin, my favorite lip balm that feels like a spa treatment in a bottle, the nail concealer that I’ve declared the perfect nail polish, the toxin-free nude pink cutting board that sharpens knives every time you use it, the non-toxic candle I light every time we have company in the same scent as my signature perfume, the canvas tote I wear weekly and the Gold Standard sweatshirt that becomes everyone’s instant favorite. If you’re no stranger to this space, you know these things well.
It would mean the world to me if you’d share in the comments a favorite post, favorite thing this newsletter has led you to or any other thoughts in the comment. A share of this letter wherever you share things (Instagram stories? A forward to a friend? A text message to a sister?) with why you’ve found it worth it to subscribe would mean the world to me.
Here’s to another year of showing up exactly where the Lord has me. Here’s to showing up for the mothers.
Have a beautiful weekend, friends.
