Don’t get me wrong- I LOVE LIFE’S BIG MOMENTS.
I relish those big RED LETTER DAYS in life like weddings, birthdays, awards, travel, performing in front of 30,000 people. I LOVE TO WORK and I love having a big and busy life.
But it’s the little moments in life where you can find UNEXPECTED MAGIC. Sometimes we can miss the magic of RIGHT NOW while we are planning for a “big day” tomorrow. Stop for just a moment and be here right now. Don’t miss LIVING while you are busy “scheduling”.
On Sunday I had a series of little moments that strung together to create a “Perfect day”
The day started with coffee ( a small yet essential component) for a happy life, walked the dog, and then came the best part of the day GOING TO THE CANDY STORE WITH THREE YEAR OLD LEO. A candy store with a child is a simple thing, BUT THE JOY IS MONUMENTAL. His tiny hand pointing to the candy he wanted, and me being transported back in time to “red hots and butterscotch “ I liked as a child.
Brunch came next. Then my hubby and I headed to Bryant Park where we found four Pétanque courts where you can play FOR FREE. We played a couple games ( I won), and then it was time to think about dinner.
Whole Foods was across the street. To top off a perfect day my husband suggested a simple dinner- BLT’S .MY VERY FAVORITE FOOD. It’s hard to get simpler than a little thing like a sandwich.
We all have busy big lives ,but take the time to enjoy the little moments. Savor simplicity and MAKE TIME FOR OTHERS.
The next time your friend invites you to coffee - drop everything and go. I don’t care what your schedule is like- EVERYONE HAS TIME FOR A CUP OF COFFEE.
Starting TODAY until January 1,2027 and maybe beyond. Each post ( even the ones that deal with difficult subject matter) is going to end with an acknowledgement of one of LIFES SIMPLE LITTLE PLEASURES.
