IRAN, HIROSHIMA, AND A SEARCH FOR PEACE

FOR SIX MONTHS the U.S has bombed Iran- killing innocent children and destroying the lives of millions. TRUMP STARTED THIS WAR OF CHOICE as distraction to billions of dollars he, his family , and this administration have stolen from the American people. This war of choice started as a distraction from the Epstein files…that have still not been fully released. This war of choice was started out of hatred and fear of “the others”

Trump regularly threatens to “wipe out Iran” for a war that HE started.

It’s been 81 years since the nuclear bombs were dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Eight decades have passed, but nothing has really changed. We live a world full of hatred. Here in the United States we have a President who takes pride in hatred and in hurting others. Trump and other politicians are not too dissimilar from Adolph Hitler or Slobodan Milosevic .

One of the post World War II mantras has always been “NEVER AGAIN”, but we are doing it ALL over and over again. We have created a culture of cruelty where people are desensitized from their actions. I.C.E has been replaced in the news cycle, but it’s STILL HAPPENING. I.C.E agents look and act like the Gestapo. Their faces are covered, they show no ID and they grab people off the street and “send them away”. I.C.E is still killing the innocent.

We say NEVER AGAIN, but we are repeating history right now with a war in Iran and the Trumps policies towards AMERICA. Right here in the United States people are being arrested and deported because of the color of their skin.

Benfits to the needy and underprivleged have been stripped away. The Trump administration has made POOR a “four letter word”

In World War II Jews , the Roma people, and others were sent to concentration camps because of who their cultural identities. People are being locked away in ICE DETENTION CENTERS because of how they look. The lives of innocent people are being stolen NOT to secure the border but because of hate.

History is on repeat in local politics too.

Recently in New York City, THE GREATEST CITY ON EARTH, an eighteen person committee was appointed by NYC mayor. The committe “to represent ALL OF NYC” was set up to advise on judicial nominations. Of those eighteen NOT ONE person appointed to the counsel was Jewish. This is shocking considering 1 out of every 10 New Yorkers are Jewish. Approximately HALF of all lawyers in New York City are Jewish. So how do you set up a council to reflect New york City without appointing one Jewish person? 8.5 MILLION PEOPLE live in NYC, nearly a MILLION are Jewish. Would you accept a council that included no women? A council with no people of color? Regardless of politics or faith this FACT is concerning.

In 1933 when Hitler rose to power one of the very first acts he took was to allow municipalities to exclude Jewish lawyers and scholars.

Not only are people of color, and Jews being targeted, so are Muslims. Trump actively targets Muslims and has at times called for “a total and complete shut-down of Muslims entering the United States”.

All this is happening in our beloved country where 250 years ago we declared -

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Eighty one years have passed the bomb was dropped in Hiroshima-one of the worst days in human history…yet very little has changed. Here we stand watching history on repeat and WE MUST STOP IT. We must change course.

When I think about the world we live in now it’s easy to be discouraged and it’s hard to see the answers to creating a better world.

The world is very DARK right now, but it’s not hopeless. Every person needs to demand an end to this culture of cruelty. This is not about politics this is about people. We need to act, speak out, and most importantly show love and kindness to those we disagree with- it’s the only way to turn this tide of hate.
