This evening, as it was moving into dusk, I saw Mama Mama and Grandma Grandma browsing behind our home. I went to the refrigerator and found the wrinkled apple, past its prime that I had noticed yesterday.

Grief for Our World

Like a book opening a bud flowering a wave breaking into a net of drops catching the sun I see us moving forward into ourselves. A multitude of gifts. A multitude of witches. I know sensitive ones and ones who exude power. I know the ones who tend the earth the ones who know herbs and berries or can help birth a goat. I know the ones who heal with their hands and the ones who see beyond the veil.…

“You are lucky,” someone once said to me. Remember the ten thousand years dark and knotted I unfolded through. The snarls that grabbed me. The shattered bones gleaming and the crushed heart seeping crimson into dry dust.

Worry circled in my head. Round and round it wore a path, a track, a rut.
