I left Indianapolis to move to Los Angeles when I was 18. When I returned to Indy in 2010, I was certain that nothing would ever be as much fun as going out in LA. I had very few friends here so I started going to dance parties and shows to photograph and meet people. I found it much easier to socialize when I was photographing. I felt like I had a purpose. About 4 months in to my 2nd run in Indianapolis on the 2nd Tuesday of January 2011 I attended a party called Let Go at the Lockerbie Pub on Michigan Street. It was incredible. The music was transcendent. Everyone was friendly and rowdy. There were drinks all over the floor. People seemed to love my camera and my camera loved everyone. This was easily better than LA.
I don’t think the party lasted much more than a year but it was so important to everyone who attended. I look though these pictures and see people who I still see around today. It really created a significant portion of my social base for a long time. I am incredibly grateful to A Squared Djs and Action Jackson for creating this night.
I’ll be releasing more pictures from Let Go. If you want to see more from this night just visit JedediahJohnson.com.
