Hello Friends!

I’m thrilled to share a few fall updates about some exciting events coming up, and I’d love to see you there!

The next iteration of "Open Source" is installed and up at the Wilma Daniels Art Gallery in downtown Wilmington, NC. If you’re in the #wilmingtonnc area anytime between September 16th and November 8th, come by and see the space! Better yet, join us for the opening reception on September 27th, from 6-9 pm as part of the Fourth Friday Wilmington Art Walk. I’ll be there with some of the incredible artists on display—Freddie Bell @fartworks, Jason Lord @jasonearllord, Cindy Morefield @cindymorefield, Peter Marin @petermarinartworks, and Carson Whitmore @cool_._weather.

This exhibit is all about creativity, collaboration, and openness. Just like open-source software—where code is shared freely to be remixed and reimagined—this show invites you to explore a world of abstract art where there are no boundaries, only possibilities. It’s a celebration of the unexpected, and I can’t wait to share it with you.

I had such a wonderful time installing my work at the North Carolina Medical Board with Fenn and Dara from the @durhamartguild! It’s so inspiring to see a business truly prioritize the art and the Art@work program through the Durham Arts Guild does just that. I'm thrilled to have my work featured alongside the amazing Marnie Goldshlag for the next six months. This is a fantastic opportunity to bring art into everyday spaces, adding a little bit of warmth, curiosity, and reflection to the routines of those who work and visit there. Another bit of great news—I’ve been accepted into the "Timber: Contemporary Woodcraft" exhibition at the Annmarie Sculpture Garden in Maryland juried by Rick Pelasara - Assistant Director of Exhibit Production, Smithsonian Institute. This show is all about the beauty and versatility of wood as a medium. I’m honored to be a part of this and can’t wait to see how each artist brings their own unique voice to their work. This exhibition will be open to the public in the Kay Daugherty Gallery of Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center, from October 11, 2024, to January 20, 2025.

Over these past 6 months, Pete Sack, Lamar Whidbee, Daniel Kelly, and I have been hard at work behind the scenes creating The Grid Project, a for artists by artists collective. With much preparation and planning, a year of events begins to unfold this October with an art exhibition and community engagement titled Rubberside Down. 

So if you’re in Raleigh this October, please join us for "Rubberside Down, an exhibition and engagement of The Grid Project which celebrates the vibrant overlap between the artist and biking communities here in Raleigh. Supported by SEEK Raleigh and made possible by The Grid Project and Oaks and Spokes, this event will be an energetic mix of art, cycling, and community spirit. I promise it’ll be a lot of fun!

• Location: Birdland, 706 Mountford Ave, Raleigh, NC

• Exhibition Dates: October 5th - October 26th

• Open Hours: October 12, 13, 19, and 20, from 1-4 p.m

Opening Event: Saturday, October 5th, 2-6 p.m
Think pump tracks, inflatables, a bike show, group ride, vendors, a walking studio tour, and a showcase of incredible artwork! There will also be an author event on October 17th and a bike clinic on October 26th. It's going to be a great month of connecting, riding, and creating together!
