Day 847 – Hügelkultur
The proof is in the pudding. Our first hügelkultur raised bed was a success. So let s repeat that. Let s also have fewer skid-steer mishaps going forward that was close!

The proof is in the pudding. Our first hügelkultur raised bed was a success. So let s repeat that. Let s also have fewer skid-steer mishaps going forward that was close!
The CNC spoilboard is done. Well, the horizontal table. It s a similar but much different design than the last one. Less expensive hardware, more capability. Of course, a few scheduling curveballs. Unexpected events are becoming more expected..
Bucket Pod 1.0 was a great success in my last two shop spaces. Because I record more outside than inside on this property, and with me using more than one camera, I always reach for a tripod. But the bucket pod doesn t need to go to the landfill. Let s reuse it for a CNC computer [ ]
We ve been eating from the garden for a while now. Jamie started canning for the first time and is really enjoying it. So far, we ve devoured a dozen or so pint jars of pickles and one quart of tomatoes. A lot of experience gained battling caterpillars this year. Cucumbers have produced the most, then tomatoes. [ ]
Brief mowing, dedicated power to the air compressor, a look at massive upcoming wood from the local tree service, getting the tractor mobile once again, and some final words of wisdom for our youth.
5 12 CNC Specs, Machine File, Spoilboard Setup, First Job
We put an AC unit in the shop. Almost had a heat stroke running the chipper on a hot day. I felt heat saturation coming on and had to shut it down. I learned my lesson the first summer on the property, working in the heat without shelter breaks. And we worked on fresh greens [ ]
The CNC is up and running, but my supply of beams to tinker with on the CNC is nonexistent. It s time to change that. Which means it is also time to sweat.
I ve accidentally run into a lumber shortage. And I want to get some beams cut on the CNC for small-scale timber framing. So it s sawmill time. However, the sawmill area has reached a boiling point. We re on schedule with a logging company to get our pines harvested this fall. Between me not being able to [ ]
Day 5 of the 5 12 @AvidCNC CNC build. I have some fun projects upcoming. In no particular order: chicken coop, small production run of CNC-made hand tool workbenches (oh the irony..), various storage solutions for the apartment and shop.
