I Have a Dream Business. It Has Nothing to Do With Writing.

Flora was asleep. The kids were asleep. The house was quiet for the first time all day. I sat down at my desk, put on my headphones, and spent 45 minutes killing demons in Sanctuary.

It was the best 45 minutes of my week.

I don’t get to game much anymore. The business takes everything. The writing, the course, the community, the clients. By the time I get to the end of a day there’s usually nothing left for anything that doesn’t make money or keep someone alive.

But those 45 minutes reminded me of something I’ve been carrying around for years and never said out loud.

I want to build computers and offices for a living.

Not as a hobby. As a business. Custom rigs, gaming dens, home offices, streaming setups. The whole thing. Walking into someone’s spare bedroom and turning it into the space they’ve been dreaming about since they were twelve years old.

I don’t have the specialized knowledge yet. I want to be clear about that. I’m not going to pretend I’m already an expert in something I’m still learning. That’s not how I operate.

What I have is a passion that goes back further than I can remember, and a clear picture of what this looks like someday.

I see myself learning interior design, office design, gaming setup principles. Combining that with what I already know about technology, content, and running a business. Building something where people hire me not just to spec out a computer but to design the whole experience. The desk, the lighting, the cable management, the acoustics. The room that makes you feel like you finally have the setup you deserve.

I’ve always been drawn to the intersection of technology and environment. The way a great setup changes how you work. How you create. How you feel sitting down at the start of a session.

There’s a real business in that. I know it exists because I’ve spent years wishing someone would do it for me.

World of Warcraft is still running on my account. I peek in occasionally, mostly for the nostalgia, the familiar sounds, the way Azeroth feels like a place I actually lived for a few years in my thirties. I don’t have time to raid or level properly. But I log in sometimes just to walk around and remember what it felt like to have whole evenings to disappear into something that had nothing to do with survival.

That feeling is what I want to build for other people.

Not everyone who loves gaming has the time or knowledge to build the setup they want. Not everyone who works from home knows how to design a space that actually supports deep work. Those are real problems. Problems I understand personally. Problems I’d genuinely love to solve.

This isn’t my next business. I’m deep in The Great Pivot right now and that’s where my energy belongs. But it’s the one after that. The one I’m already thinking about in the background while I’m building everything else.

I’ve learned that you don’t have to be ready to start wanting something.

You just have to be honest about what it is.

So here it is. Someday I’m building gaming dens and custom rigs and home offices for people who deserve a space that matches how seriously they take their craft.

I’ll learn what I need to learn. I’ll build what I need to build to get there.

And in the meantime, I’ll keep sneaking in 45 minutes of Diablo whenever the house gets quiet.
