I love ordering out as much as the next person… but what I love even more?
A good fakeout recipe! Because I can’t order dinner every night of the week. So I do my best to recreate some of my favorite meals (with better-for-you twists) at home! Especially in this busy season of life with the kids going back to school. Our schedule has honestly been a lot recently, and I’m so grateful for solid meals like this that can not only get us by, but that we actually look forward to eating!
So far, I’ve shared a few like my Better-Than-Takeout Chicken Pad Thai and Sweetgreen-Inspired Chicken Sesame Crunch Bowls, and I love that you all love them as much as I do!
To carry on the theme, I’m bringing you one of my all-time favorite takeout-inspired recipes with these General Tso’s Chicken Bowls! They’re sweet. They’re savory. They’re spicy. And just flat-out REALLY good! Even my kids love the chicken, which is always a huge win.

Aaaand, they come together in about 35 minutes! All you need is a skillet and a bowl to mix the sauce. There’s no MSG or unnecessary additives, each bowl has 41 grams of protein. Leftovers store well, too! So, you might as well make a double batch for the rest of the week or even to freeze. Trust me. When life gets hectic, you’ll be glad you did!
