At the end of last year, I started writing down some ideas that had been circling in my head for a while: about how we work, how products take shape, and what makes teams effective in complex environments.
These weren’t new thoughts. Just patterns I kept seeing. Meetings that dragged on without tangible results or alignment. Product teams stretched too thin. Conversations that missed the point. I kept coming back to the same questions:
What actually matters here? What would happen if we made it simpler?
So I started writing. A few notes at a time. Over the past months, that turned into a small manifesto — a framework for doing product work with more clarity and less friction. I call it kleines licht.
In German, kleines Licht means “little light.” It’s the soft lamp in the corner. The one you reach for when the overhead lights are too much. Enough to see clearly, not so much that it blinds.
That’s the idea behind the name:
A way of working that brings just enough light to focus on what matters.
It’s written for product managers, scrum masters, and anyone working in agile organisations. People navigating competing priorities, trying to bridge between developers, designers, and stakeholders. People who want to build momentum without getting lost in process.
The manifesto has five principles:
Choose Mindful Simplicity
A little light creates space for thought and rest. Simple software allows people to work naturally and effectively.Move With Purpose
Like moving a little light to illuminate what matters, adapt your focus based on real needs — not rigid processes.Trust in Enough
Not every space needs bright lights. Not every product needs every feature. Confidence comes from knowing when it’s enough.Preserve What Works
When the light’s just right, there’s no need to add another. When software works, resist the urge to pile on more.Value Natural Rhythms
Different moments call for different light. Development has phases of insight and momentum — and phases of quiet care.
These aren’t rules. They’re reminders. Ways to cut through complexity, do hands-on work that delivers, and bring people together without overcomplicating the path.
kleines licht is inspired by the Agile Manifesto. I’ve worked with agile teams and practices for over a decade — across organisations, products, and roles. This is my take. A lighter, more human framework for modern product work.

If it resonates — or sparks questions — I’d love to hear from you.
