You may remember Chris Kluwe from his NFL days as a franchise great with the Minnesota Vikings. He was a *really* good punter and, unique to the sport, an outspoken advocate for LGBTQ+ equality. Now Chris is taking that lifelong commitment to doing what’s right – even when it’s hard – to Sacramento.

Last year, during a Huntington Beach City Council meeting Chris was arrested for protesting a city-approved plaque that contained a “MAGA” acrostic poem. Asked about his opposition to the political message on a public building, Chris said, “we want to honor the library. We want there to be a plaque, but we don’t want MAGA on it because the library isn’t supposed to be political.”
It’s not just that fire-tested courage that makes Chris the leader AD-72 deserves, it’s also his commitment to a livable future. From local nature reserves to the beaches known around the world, he’s committed to protecting the OC’s natural wonders by fostering climate resiliency, and promoting clean energy solutions. He’s also looking at the hidden costs of not putting our planet first, like how massive AI data centers are straining the power grid and driving up energy bills.
Chris spent his career in the pocket under unimaginable pressure, and he isn’t about to fold now – not with our planet and our democracy on the line. He has a solid game plan for flipping this Republican-held seat. Now we’ve got to do our part and help him make it to the end zone.
