Friday Night Drabble Party!

Happy Friday, folks.

I hope your week went well.

Mine? Great. Did a lot of writing. A LOT of writing. I finished my first novel since COVID. That’s pretty crazy. I have the manuscript printed out, and I’m red-penning the shit out of it. Typos galore! But that’s the process.

What’s the novel about? Oh, just a demon-possessed axe that controls people like meat puppets and is hunting down a farm girl for REVENGE!

When will it be available? Well, that all depends on a few factors. I’m gonna use this puppy to find an agent. Haven’t had one in a while. Assuming I manage that, we still have to sell the book. Probably talking a couple years before release. We shall see!

The Sloughing Man

The cup of coffee sits forgotten.

The desk is a mess of papers and broken pens, ink staining everything.

There’s a mewling from the floor. A soft, pained, slow whimper.

A hand appears on the edge of the desk. The skin is wrong. So wrong.

Sloughing off as if it’s made of tissue paper, wet and chunky.

The hand grips the desk, using it as leverage to help the owner stand.

None of his skin is right. Mottled, melting, dripping.

The sloughing man uses what little sight he has left to stare at the papers.

Where did he go wrong?
