And some thoughts on hybridity and The Lunatics' Ball

I don't only write about lunatics
On my flash about Violet Gibson in my forthcoming essay collection The Lunatics' Ball and on recent readings and salons

Thrilled that my short essay “Normal,” originally intended for The Lunatics’ Ball and then set aside before I assembled the collection, found a home in the inaugural issue of Sarah Fawn Montgomery’s journal Nerve to Write!

I loved reading at Books on B yesterday with Patricia Bidar, Lynn Mundell, and Dawn Tasaka Steffler at the launch for Patricia’s flash collection Pardon Me for Moonwalking. I read an unpublished flash from The Lunatics’ Ball (more on that next month, on the centenary of the event featured in my flash).

Our suburban New Jersey household in the nineteen-sixties was a dark one, my depressed mother sleeping all day, my parents bickering every night over cocktails.

Friends in the East Bay!

I’m so excited to announce that my hybrid essay collection The Lunatics’ Ball is first runner-up for The Gournay Prize and will be published by Mad Creek Books/The Ohio State University Press in their 21st Century Essays series next year.
