Can you both take wing from yourself and seek to become yourself?
I found myself contemplating this paradoxical question after reading a passage from this week’s meditation in the Calendar of the Soul: “To take wing from myself and trustingly to seek myself.”
My answer was found in the image of a caterpillar’s metamorphosis.
Must not the creature take wing from its old self in order to become its true self?
So, too, must we.
In order to transform into our true spiritual self, we must let go of our existing self.
