Throughout the month of June there are plenty of opportunities for students interested in STEM! We’ve collected a list of eight opportunities focused on science, technology, engineering, and math. Below is a collection of scholarships, hackathons, webinars, internships, research opportunities, and programs that will either be held this month or have applications open/due this June.
The Regeneron Science Talent Search (STS) is the oldest and most prestigious science research competition for U.S. high school students, established in 1942. Each year, around 2,000 students submit original research, and the competition aims to identify, inspire, and engage the nation's most promising future leaders in STEM. The CENTURI Hackathon is a two-day event focused on coding, engineering, and idea-sharing to foster innovations at the intersection of Computer Science and Life Sciences. Open to students, postdocs, developers, and researchers, the event aims to address technological challenges in studying living systems through collaborative projects in big data, computer vision, and modeling, welcoming experts from various fields. The #CODETOIMPACT 2024 Hackathon offers participants workshops hosted by GIC technologists, real-world problem-solving opportunities, mentorship, and the chance to fast-track into the GIC Internship Programme and win prizes. Open to undergraduates with a background in software engineering and an interest in GIC, the hackathon involves a registration period from May 31 to June 30, with the event held on September 7-8, 2024, at the GIC Singapore office. Join an NYC hackathon for ML enthusiasts and college students to tackle real-world challenges, offering cash prizes, workshops on best practices in Computer Vision and ML, and networking opportunities with industry experts. The event features three tracks for varying skill levels, tech talks, hands-on workshops, and engaging challenges, running from 11:30 AM to 4:30 PM at 393 Broadway, 2nd Floor, NYC, with snacks and refreshments provided. The Workamajig Generative AI + Human Design Scholarship Contest is challenging applicants to demonstrate their creative vision and skills in tandem with Generative AI design technology. This new scholarship expands the applicant pool to include graphic design certification programs, courses, and vocational schools in addition to four-year institutions. A minimum of two awards ranging from $1,000 to $2,500 will be awarded to eligible individuals currently engaged in education related to ecological restoration or mitigation. Criteria may also include the applicant’s place of residence, past or future attendance at a school within the state of South Carolina, past or proposed course of study or evidence of his or her interest in pursuing a career in mitigation. This scholarship will not be awarded on the basis of academic performance; the selection will be based on an ability to critically analyze real clinical trial data in the style of the company’s journal. Importantly, scholarship winners will be eligible for publication in our journal if that is of interest to them. Applicants for this scholarship must write an essay of 500 words or more on how EV tech can help create a more sustainable future. Discuss whether the shift toward EVs is the best path for improving global mobility and environmental health.
