The sea also gets hungry

Here is the second part of The Page of Cups (already I’m posting late!), which serves as a brief introduction to the Borough and the architectural phenomenon of the “occult practice.” If you’re interested in any of the local history and folklore that I’m liberally stealing and wildly mashing together here, I encourage you to read more about the history of Aldeburgh, the sunken town of Dunwich, and the Principality of Sealand. Stories about the ominous ringing of drowned bells appear to be endemic to North Sea coastal towns, but it’s hard to imagine that anywhere can boast of more sunken churches than Dunwich, whose Wikipedia page lists an incredible twelve (to lose one church may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose twelve looks like carelessness). Dunwich now amounts to little more than a single street of houses, but it once had a port to rival the city of London.

Part three of the comic finds our hero experiencing a flashback. But it’s not the interesting kind, where something traumatic or otherwise exciting might have happened to him, it’s just a lot of blah blah blah, and lots of wood panelling. It does introduce a bit more intrigue to the story though, if you like that kind of thing.
