Finishing stuff is hard. When I first came up with the idea of the Occult Society as a setting and central metaphor, I intended The Page of Cups to be a short and simple narrative that would finally break my habit of never finishing a comics story. But here we are in 2026, and of course it’s still not finished. But there are so many other ideas that I’m excited to explore! I have to put this thing to bed so I can write about esoteric socialism and highly intelligent magpies!

The new problem that’s emerged is one of distribution. When we lived in Seattle, Melanie and I would try to finish a comic book in time to sell it at the Vancouver Comic Arts Festival. Now that we live in Sweden, I really don’t know what you do with a comic book when you’re done with it. So I figured that I’d serialise it here from the beginning (the best place to start). I’m aiming to post about 10 pages a week, which should bring it to a conclusion at the end of August.

Thanks for reading Invisible Dot! This post is public so feel free to share it.

\Here is the second part of The Page of Cups (already I’m posting late!), which serves as a brief introduction to the Borough and the architectural phenomenon of the “occult practice.” If you’re interested in any of the local history and folklore that I’m liberally stealing and wildly mashing together here, I encourage you to read more about the history…
