[FREE GAME] Lost Rooms

You may have been aware of some previous attempts to offer free stuff : Real Places, The Embrace of Cinder’s End, Vacant Lot and more. I come from the netlabel scene, and before that the tracker scene, both at the cusp of the internet and offering free music. I believe in free stuff and more personally, I want to see creators I respect tackle ideas, smaller projects and experiment with form.

In the hopes of creating such an environment, we decided, Melanie and I (psst we’re invisibletemplegames.com), to make a monthly free game for many of the above reasons. I also want to find my community and talk and exchange with you, and we hope you enjoy where we are going with these free games.

Whilst not always in support of kickstarters, this first free game is inspired directly by the story and mechanics(ish?) of The Kodama Institute, currently crowdfunding. Most of the free games will be just that, ways for us to explore and share the lore of our world just as we did with all of our previous free supplements and games. Some will be roll&writes, card games and tabletop roleplaying games like the first entry :

While extracting ideas from The Kodama Institute game, I decided to plunge into the Lost Rooms, one of the actions in the game. For a long time, I have imagined this place, in the Kodama Institute, where dreamers that have night terrors go to and get healed from them. Unbeknownst to them, the Kodama Institute is rather extracting these borrowed dreams and making magic out of them. A little bit of Homecoming, a little bit of Final Fantasy and Severance.

It’s a game that is for 1 GM and up to 4 players, and its main mechanic is inspired by the 2 white d6s and 2 black d6s from the Kodama Institute, but this time in stead of using them as workers in a worker placement game, you use them as a dicepool.
