IAEM R9 Symposium Registration Closes on 1 August

Aloha - We are in the final week before registration closes on 1 August for first ever regional symposium in Honolulu, HI from 12-13 August. In addition, to the Governor of Hawaii providing opening remarks, we have a new keynote speaker to announce from one of our R9 members - Soraya Sutherlin. Soraya is a nationally recognized expert in emergency management and crisis communications with over two decades of experience leading public safety initiatives across government, education, and nonprofit sectors. For those of you that already registered, we have added two new optional social events we have planned. We would ask that you update your registration NLT this Monday (28 July) to let us know if you'll be able to make any or all of the events starting with the Elk's Lodge on 11 August from 4:30 - 6:30 pm (Sponsored by the City and County of Honolulu Department of Emergency Management), Beer Lab Hawaii on 12 August from 4:30 - 7 pm (Sponsored by the Emergency Management Professionals of Hawaii), and on 13 August from 4 - 5:30 pm (Sponsored by IEM). We also still have slots open for the certification exam scheduled for 14 August from 1 - 3:30 at Red Cross Headquarters by Diamond Head State Park.

For additional reasons to come to our symposium, there are two TEEX courses that still have seats available from 8/19-8/20 (https://teex.org/class/MGT317) and 8/21-8/22 (https://teex.org/class/MGT345), and NDPTC is offering 11 courses the week of 8/18 - 8/22 at the Hawaii Convention Center - https://ndptc.hawaii.edu/training/?page=1&state=12&start=08/17/2025#schedule.

There's also the Blue Angels Air Show taking place on 9-10 August at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, with a military appreciation day on 8 August. And, the Hawaii Spartan Trifecta Weekend events from 16-17 August. As well as the 31st Annual Made in Hawaii Festival from 15-17 August. And, there may even be volunteer opportunities for Team Rubicon members from 15-17 August for a fire mitigation operation on Puʻuwaʻawaʻa Forest Preserve in Kailua – Kona, Hawaii.
