Hey pals,
Today, let’s oil up your hips a bit (motion is lotion!). This is a great sequence to do as movement prep for a heavy lower-body lift, to recover from a long flight or car ride, or anytime your hips are just feeling cranky.
The recommended equipment today is a resistance band — either the loop kind, or the longer kind tied into a loop — and a yoga block. (Quick disclosure that those are affiliate links! This is not a huge part of my business, but every little bit counts; if you’re in need of new exercise equipment, your use of those links would be greatly appreciated! It’s from my preferred brand, Power Systems, which makes very high quality equipment and doesn’t require engaging with Amazon or Target, etc.) You can also sub in an old pair of tights or leggings for the loop band, and a thick book for the yoga block.
Remember that this workout (as with all other workouts and content here) is not meant to diagnose or treat an injury or condition — if you’re experiencing pain, your first step should always be a medical provider or PT. But if you just have that tight, grumpy hip feeling, this is a great one.
You might also enjoy this shoulder sequence from a couple months ago.
Enjoy!
