Ages ago I learned (I don’t remember how but I think perhaps through my north London-based therapist?) that there is a PYO dahlia field in Finchley. It must have been two summers ago I first heard about it, when I was (a) first growing cut flowers and (b) still in therapy.
I have had it saved in my ‘places to visit’ bookmarks folder ever since and every once in a while it pops back into my mind. Then India Knight posted a picture of her haul of picked-her-own dahlias and the need to visit became urgent.
Despite having several more urgent things to do today, I decided it was time. A birthday really is a delightful excuse for such follies.
