Hellloooooo!

Welcome to a new monthly series I’m launching called “hyperfixations” where I share hormone healthy-ish desserts, beverages, meal shortcuts and actual meals I’m currently obsessing over.

This idea came to me as I’ve been thinking a lot about the content I create and share in this space, and how to make it feel as authentic, aligned, inspiring and helpful as possible.

And while I do love creating and sharing recipes, there is a lot of forethought that goes into it. We’re talking ideating, developing and testing recipes months in advance before they’re actually published, especially if you’re working with a photographer (which I do!) to give them ample time to shoot the recipes.

Not that there is anything wrong with that process — it just doesn’t leave much time and space to share recipes in real time. And real time is a lot of times where I shine, coming up with things on the fly as I randomly crave them, or need a use for certain ingredients before they expire, or am in my luteal phase and must make a gluten-free s’mores bar immediately because it’s living rent-free in my brain, etc.

I’m also trying to work with my perfectionist tendencies in order to share more realness. Perfectionist Lauren would never share a recipe unless the photograph itself was perfect, which has had the unintentional effect of gate-keeping some amazing recipes and staples from this community.

So I’m really trying to work with this part of myself, and share with you more of what I’m making in real time. I can promise you that even if my photos aren’t as beautiful or bright, the food still tastes amazing, and these recipes bring me joy, help me feel better, nourish my hormones, make meals easier/more nutrient dense or elevate my life in some way — and I hope they do the same for you.

Pssst: This also means as a paid subscriber you’ll be receiving at least 2-4 MORE recipes per month!!

With that, let’s talk about this month’s hyperfixations. We’ve got —

These are an absolute delight and I’ve been making them almost once a week (but always during my luteal phase 😬). The texture is insane (I’m not calling them gooey for nothin’), they are super easy to bake and truly taste like s’mores (but better). They’re naturally gluten-free, grain-free and dairy-free to boot!

This is one of my favorite hacks to sneak in more protein at breakfast! While I do lean on pre-made breakfast sausage quite a bit, they also have a lot more sodium and less protein than this homemade version (and don’t taste nearly as delicious). I have been making a batch per week and eating two of them for breakfast most mornings alongside basil seed pudding (to help me get in some fiber!) and I feel so satisfied and energized afterwards!

To know me is to know I LOVE coffee. I wake up every morning excited for my daily latte (and breakfast, my favorite meal!) Alas, I can only have one caffeinated beverage per day, otherwise I will feel horrible, but that’s okay because the one I do have is always delicious and bougie! Lately I’ve been making this rosemary coconut caramel to add to lattes with my homemade coconut cashew milk (like I said, bougie!) but it is SO GOOD. Subtle, not too sweet (no refined sugar!), a little earthy and perfectly compliments the espresso. It would also be delicious drizzled on parfaits or ice cream.

The salad I’ve been eating most days for lunch lately, especially since it’s been SO hot out. The dressing lasts for a week, and makes putting this salad together fast, as there’s no cooking required! It’s absolutely packed with flavor — all of the components (herby + creamy dressing, piquant pickled onions, juicy stone fruit, creamy goat cheese, rotisserie chicken, crunchy pistachios, etc.) pair so well together, in the most unexpected of ways.

So, are you hungry yet?! ☺️
