Hi ya folks,

1. I have a new header! Yay for basic photoshop skills.

2. It’s finally warm in MN. Right now, it’s 87 degrees and muggy. A lot of cold-blooded Minnesotans are dying right now, but I am reveling in it—aside from the mosquitos… and the ticks.

But enough of the weather and my low-key paranoia that I will catch Lyme’s Disease. Let’s talk about nonsense.

Julie Fredrickson is one of my favorite Twitter users. I would describe her vibe as a loose cannon that won’t destroy the ship, but does find it amusing if she pokes a hole in the sailcloth that slows you down.

We also share a behavior that is, on the whole, probably not ideal. As she writes in her blog, “I regularly find myself saying shit to my friends or my husband only to stop myself and say ‘that needs to go on Twitter!’”

One time, when I was 17, I did this during a family dinner at my ex-girlfriend’s home. Not a hot look, but here’s the thing: if I don’t tweet, I don’t remember, and I agree with her: “There is no worse feeling than completely losing an insight because you didn’t write it down.”

And so, I tweet. My handwriting is terrible anyways

I finally understand how to make videos on TikTok. And now I am making fun of media and startup folks (with love).

For distribution, I download and share the TikTok video on Twitter. And it’s so interesting to see how well TikTok memes have been doing on network that is, mostly, text-based. Here are the two I made:

• When journalists write their first drafts in WordPress instead of Google docs

• Startup founder pitching a journalist to run an independent pub

Basically, I just use TikTok as a video editing tool and distribute on Twitter to pretty decent results.

That makes TikTok a powerful creation tool that is social media agnostic while maintaining its own very massive social network.

It’s kind of like how Apple makes great hardware and software, sort of. (I am taking other comparisons with less holes to poke.)

The season to mountain bike is here! My pedal has been repaired, I have tooth floss keeping a wire attached, and a new method of getting my bike in and out of the car.

While it is still pretty wet here, I hopped on the Minnesota River Trail in Bloomington, MN. I slipped out on some sand and had to avoid a very steep drop that I plan on tackling next time ‘round.

Shout out to Minnesota Off-Road Cyclists (MORC) for maintaining the trails and keeping us posted on their conditions.
